A couple of days ago, PHPmotion released V3.5 of their popular “YouTube Clone” softare. The biggest and most obvious change in the new release is the new player. In the past, PHPmotion came packaged with the very popular and fully featured JW FLV player from LongTailVideo.com. JW Player is a very nice player and while it’s served PHPmotion well for a long time, the devs felt it was time to implement a new in-house player so that they could have more control over the features/design and to make support easier. The new player comes with a playlist feature and customizable colors for the control bar. While the player isn’t as fully featured as the JW Player, the PHPmotion devs assure me that new features will be added as time goes on, so keep an eye out for them!
The new player is great and all, but it had me wondering… what happens to established sites with externally embedded videos. Well, it turns out that the embedded videos will stop working, and members will be forced to re-embed their videos using the new embed code available on updated PHPmotion V3.5 sites. Another issue is that the new PHPmotion player while promising, is missing many of the “must have” features of the JW player like Pseudo-Streaming, D-Related, and skins. Also some people may just plain not like the new player, and that’s understandable since JW is a more mature and well established player.

But the You tube added videos are not showing in latest videos on main page.
i read above that there is mod in Phpmotion website which will let u do that.
i looked for it.. and coudn’t find one.. can u please either send me the link. or guide me how to do that.

If i purchase your jw player for my default V3 phpmotion , will i be able to use the play list feature for audios, SO like to play 100 songs with out stopping..

The JW player integration does not add audio playlist functionality to PHPmotion.

Not by default. There’s a free mod to allow this with JW player though. After you purchase this mod, go to the PHPmotion forum and it’s listed in the “Mods” board.

I’ve only done the default template so far, haven’t had a chance to make it for other templates yet. I’ll probably have it ready for other templates in a couple of days.

It is a shame that phpmotion went to their own player. phpmotion have said on their forum (which has been down for a week now
) that no one can offer a mod (on their forum) for jwplayer for 3.5 for some reason.. I presume its something to do with licencing they have to pay for allowing it on their software or alike.
Their player is simple enough, but doens’ t have the capability of jwplayer
